Thinking about a New Car

I went out last night driving through car lots looking at whats available. It looks like I'm going to be getting a car with an automatic transmission this time around. My wife can drive a stick, but she prefers to drive automatic and since I always get new cars, I figure she needs one now.

Any suggestions? Safe, fun to drive, and automatic?

Plus, does anyone know someone who could get me access to a demo model or something I could take for more than 1 hour?

If you are looking at a GM, then ask if they still have the 24 hour test drive. GM Dealers would let you take the car for 24 hours to evaluate.

IF not, then consider renting the style of car you are interested in. Check Hertz, Enterprise and Avis web sites and check availablity.

If you are serious enough, you may be able to talk to the sales mananger at the dealership. If they really want to make the sale, they may oblige.

Good luck

I'm not really brand loyal.

Go into any dealer, no matter what brand and ask. What's the worst they could say? If they want to sell, they will accomodate you. And if they won't the next dealer will.

I don't like car salesmen, so when I go shopping for cars, I dress down, jeans and t-shirt, sneakers. And if they don't pay any attention I walk out. In today's market the customer is king.
